Immediate volunteer needs

¢ Douglas County Senior Services seeks volunteers for its Friendly Visitor Program. Visitors meet with a homebound or elderly person for regular or periodic visits, provide transportation to and from appointments or occasional outings, and make regular or occasional telephone contact. ¢ Lawrence Memorial Hospital seeks self-motivated, compassionate volunteers who are active and able to assist nursing units. Volunteers duties may include assisting patients with nonmedical needs such as watering flowers and plants in patient rooms and providing coffee and juice to visitors. They may assist staff by stocking supplies in patient areas, setting up rooms to be ready for new patients, transporting patients by wheelchair and delivering specimens to the lab. ¢ Youth Volunteer Council, sponsored by the Roger Hill Volunteer Center, is a group of local teens 15 to 18 who volunteer on a regular basis at a variety of nonprofit and human service organizations. To learn more about council, call the center at 865-5030.

¢ A local housing organization seeks scrapbook material donations as well as an experienced and creative volunteer to create scrapbooks and photo albums on behalf of the agency. This volunteer will assist the organization by compiling photos and other memorabilia into books and binders to document events in a creative and attractive fashion.
