KU official mourned
James Vequist remembrance set for Saturday
Kansas University officials on Wednesday mourned the death of James Vequist, director of Budig Hall and Hoch Auditoria.
Vequist died Saturday after a battle with cancer.
“On behalf of the university family, I want to extend my deepest sympathy to the family and friends of James Vequist, who died Saturday after a battle with cancer,” Chancellor Robert Hemenway said. “He was devoted to his work serving the faculty and students. His passing is a great loss for this university. He will be missed.”
A celebration of life will be held for Vequist at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the K.S. “Boots” Adams Alumni Center on KU’s Lawrence Campus.
The celebration will begin with a buffet lunch and sharing of photographs of Vequist.
At 1 p.m., there will be a short program of remembrance of his life and passions.
