Biotechnology firm coming to Lawrence
Identigen Ltd., a Dublin, Ireland-based biotechnology company focused in the agri-food sector, is scheduled to announce plans today for opening a U.S. operation in Lawrence.
The company, formed at Trinity College in Ireland, specializes in animal and product identification, particularly as it relates to the traceability of meat products.
The company says it has commercial contracts with beef-processing companies and retail operations in at least four countries.
Identigen also says it has licensed its technology to BioMerieux Inc., described as the world’s largest business for food-testing and related consulting.
Identigen says that it plans to have annual sales of $15 million within five years.
