Winchester man killed in Highway 59 wreck

A Winchester man was killed Wednesday along U.S. Highway 59 in Jefferson County when his motorcycle turned into the back of a semitrailer.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol report, Nathan Hugh O’Neill, 21, swerved his Kawasaki motorcycle into the rear of the semitrailer about 10:30 a.m., after leaving a stretch of single-lane road construction along the highway. Both vehicles were traveling north.

O’Neill was wearing a helmet, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The report did not say why his motorcycle swerved into the rear of the semitrailer.

The semitrailer was driven by Robert A. Keller, a 42-year-old Nevada, Mo., man. He was not injured in the accident.
