Nearly 180 people have taken advantage of advance voting opportunities since it began last Wednesday, according to the Douglas County Clerk's office.

As of 11:30 a.m. today, 98 people had cast their ballots in advance of the Aug. 1 primary by coming to the courthouse, elections clerk Keith Campbell said.

In addition, another 81 advance ballots had been received by mail. A total of 636 ballots have been mailed out, Campbell said.

Advance voting can be conducted between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the clerk's office of the courthouse, 1100 Mass., Monday through Friday. The office will be open from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 29, the last day for advance voting.

I appreciate the clarification about the type of system we're using and how it will work. I'm glad to hear we don't have to simply trust that the machine counted our vote and assigned it to the right person.
