Small steps

To the editor:

The other day, I went to see the new documentary film at Liberty Hall that details the mounting consequences of our mistreatment of the planet and its finite resources.

It seems that if only we (especially here in the United States) could make the smallest of changes in our daily routines, the tide could be turned on global climate change. Reduce, reuse and recycle. We can do it, I thought as I left the theater.

But then back on Massachusetts Street I was literally blasted by the cold hard truth. It was nearly 100 degrees outside and yet several stores on Massachusetts Street had their doors wide open, pumping their frigid air onto the street to attract the sweaty passers-by. I was drawn in, cooled off, and forgot all about the movie.
