Ballot trail

To the editor:

As we know, the very cornerstone of our democratic system is our ability to vote and have confidence that our vote counts. There is a bill in Congress, House Resolution 550, which would require a paper trail for every voting machine in the nation, but so far the bill has not come to a vote due to the lack of a co-sponsor.

This letter is to encourage our congressmen to support HR 550. If every other electronic machine can produce a paper receipt, this should not be a problem for voting machines. This is not a Democratic or Republican issue, this is an American issue. We should feel confident (and have proof) that our vote counts.
