Volunteers needed to help seniors navigate Medicare

Volunteer counselors are sought to assist seniors to navigate the Medicare system. Douglas County Senior Services Inc., in cooperation with Senior Health Insurance Counseling for Kansas, is currently recruiting volunteers to become trained counselors.

A regional training session will be Aug. 8-10. Transportation and/or mileage reimbursement may be provided.

Counselors will complete three days of training in order to confidentially counsel beneficiaries regarding Medicare, Medicare supplemental insurance, prescription drug insurance, long-term care insurance and more. ¢ The Resident Services office of a local housing organization seeks scrapbook material donations and an experienced and creative volunteer to create scrapbooks and photo albums on behalf of the agency. The volunteer will assist the organization by compiling photos and memorabilia into books to document events in a creative and attractive fashion.
