Douglas County Senior Services is looking for volunteers interested in helping seniors deal with Medicare and Medicare Part D.
"We're really going to need people when Medicare Part D enrollment opens up again in November," said Katie Glendening, a community services assistant.
Senior Health Insurance Counseling for Kansas will stage a three-day training session for volunteers Aug. 8-10 in Topeka.
Upon completing the sessions, Lawrence-area volunteers may answer calls to a SHICK helpline - 800-860-5260 - on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Volunteers do not have to be seniors.
"The helpline is answered in Wichita four days a week," Glendening said. "We answer it one day a week."
People interested in volunteering are asked to call Glendening by Aug. 1, 842-0543.
