Accident aid
To the editor:
An accident occurred in downtown, on the east side of the street, at the intersection of Sixth and Massachusetts around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, June 30.
My husband apparently tripped, lost his balance and fell forward on the pavement. A few people passing by rushed over to him to offer any assistance that was needed. They helped me get him up. I then took him to Lawrence Memorial Hospital in our car for emergency treatment. Stitches (six) were taken over the right eye and X-rays taken, then I took him home.
We don’t know the names of the people that were first on the scene, but we want to say thank you for their support. The hospital staff at the emergency room was most accommodating.
We are truly thankful for everyone’s part in looking out for his safety. By the way, stitches are being removed today and all the X-rays were negative for broken bones.
We couldn’t have had a better ending with all the expert care we received that afternoon.
Thanks to everyone.
Edwin and Kathleen Turner,
Lawrence
