Sheriff’s office adds drug-sniffing dog
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has added a second drug-sniffing police dog to its force.
The German shepherd, Levi, is handled by deputy Kelvin Bellinger and began work in mid-June after finishing training. So far, the dog has been called to service at least six times, none of which ended in drug seizures, sheriff’s spokeswoman Lt. Kari Wempe said.
The dog joins Gero, a German shepherd handled by Cpl. Ed Swanson that has worked for the sheriff’s office since 2003.
