Mirror publisher leads press group

Caroline Trowbridge, Lawrence, recently was elected president of Kansas Press Assn.

Trowbridge is editor and publisher of The Mirror newspaper in Tonganoxie, as well as editor of the Basehor Sentinel. Both newspapers are owned by The World Company, which owns the Lawrence Journal-World, as well as six other weekly newspapers in Kansas.

Trowbridge, who has been publisher of The Mirror since November 1999, previously worked as a reporter and editor at the Journal-World. She also worked at the Kansas City Business Journal and at the Wichita Eagle.

During her tenure at The Mirror, the newspaper has been named Best Non-Daily in the Nation in its circulation category by the Inland Press Assn. The newspaper staff also has been awarded the coveted Sweepstakes Award three times by the Kansas Press Assn. for overall performance in KPA’s annual Awards of Excellence.

Kansas Press Assn. represents more than 230 member newspapers throughout the state, including 47 dailies and nearly 200 weeklies.
