There’s a new set of development rules to play by in Lawrence
Wichita ? Hot and dry conditions last week helped Kansas farmers as they completed the winter wheat harvest, the Kansas Agricultural Statistics Service said Monday.
In its weekly crop weather summary, the agency said the clear weather produced 6.6 days suitable for fieldwork, with 95 percent of the wheat harvested, compared to 87 percent last year and 82 percent over the past five years.
The harvest is over in central and south-central Kansas with 87 percent or more completed throughout most of the state.
Farmers in northwest Kansas have the most work left, having harvested just 77 percent of their crop.
