Second broker faces Sprint Nextel suit

Sprint Nextel Corp. said Monday it was seeking restraining orders against a second Florida company it said operates Web sites that illegally obtain and sell wireless customers’ records.

Sprint Nextel, based in Reston, Va., with operational headquarters in Overland Park, filed suit in Dade County, Fla., Circuit Court on Friday against All Star Investigations Inc.

All Star Investigations declined to comment on the suit.

On Thursday, Sprint Nextel filed suit in Broward County, Fla., against 1st Source Information Specialists Inc., which operates four Web sites that also sell wireless phone records.

Sprint Nextel officials said the data brokers gathered information on Sprint customers through fraudulent tactics, such as posing as customers looking for information about their accounts to access cell phone logs and phone numbers.
