History museum gets modern touch-ups

A fresh coat of paint has given a new look to the 118-year-old three-story foyer at the Watkins Community Museum, 1047 Mass.

In addition to the paint job, Inside-Out Painting also removed lead paint, repaired cracks and other wall damage to the entryway. Grants from Wal-Mart and NCS Pearson funded the improvement. Inside-Out also donated to the project.

More work is planned. Museum staff will apply a cleaning agent, which is manufactured by Prosoco Inc., to clean the marble stairs.

The nonprofit Douglas County Historical Society operates the museum.
