Altman paces Firebirds to bowling victory

? Kenny Altman rolled a 695 series Monday to lead the Free State High boys bowling team to victory over Olathe East at Olathe East Lanes.

The Firebirds finished with a team score of 2,507 pins. Olathe East collected 2,392 pins.

“The boys improved tremendously,” Free State coach Anita Carlson said. “From the first time we bowled at Olathe East Lanes, they were up 200 pins.”

Despite a 547 series by Lindsay Vannicola, the Free State girls came up short in their bid for their first victory of the season, falling 1,991-1,914.

“We still haven’t won a match, but we are improving every week,” Carlson said. “Our goal is to shoot 2,000, and we are at 1,914 today, so a great job.”

Next up for the Firebirds is Thursday’s road match against Olathe Northwest.
