Fun is gone

To the editor:

Where has the fun gone?

Four years ago nobody in their right mind would believe that the Kansas University men’s basketball team would be 10-6 and 1-2 in the Big 12, with back-to-back losses to Kansas State at home and a meltdown in Columbia.

What is the difference between now and then? Bill Self.

I see no intensity and no passion in these players, and this is totally unacceptable at a school that prides itself on its basketball program.

Filling out a roster with McDonald’s All-Americans does not make a basketball team. Most of these players were superstars in high school, but that does not entitle them to anything. It is an honor and a privilege to wear the crimson and the blue and play ball in a place like Allen Fieldhouse. These players have not shown to me the passion and pride it takes to be a Kansas University basketball player.

I’m sure Bill Self is a great guy, good family man, and a good coach, but, in three years, he has yet to prove to me that he is the coach that will continue the standard of excellence that Kansas University should expect and deserves.
