Police arrested two Lawrence men during the weekend on suspicion of knocking over two parking meters in the 900 block of Vermont Street and stealing $15.17 in coins.

Residents of Lawrence Community Shelter, 214 W. 10th St., told police they witnessed the men knocking over the meters shortly after 1:45 a.m. Saturday.

Officers arrested Joseph Henry Peltzer III, 24, and Adam A. Millikin, 26, on suspicion of theft and criminal damage to property. They were booked into jail, released on bond and ordered to appear in court Jan. 27.

Damage to the meters was listed at $1,000.
