Lawrence City commission agenda highlights ¢ 6:35 p.m. Tuesday ¢ City Hall, Sixth and Massachusetts streets ¢ Sunflower Broadband Channel 25 ¢ Meeting documents online at www.lawrenceks.org
Bottom line
City commissioners will hear a request from North Lawrence residents to create a quiet zone that will allow trains to go through the area from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. without blowing their whistles
Background
City commissioners had the request before, but sent it to the Traffic Safety Commission for a recommendation. The Traffic Safety Commission is recommending approval of the request. The city will have to make about $50,000 worth of improvements at train crossings in the area before the plan could be implemented.
