Lawrence commuter report

The following construction projects may affect commuter traffic in the region this week:

Interstate 70, from the East Topeka to Lecompton exits, widening project under way.

Highway 40, otherwise known as Sixth Street, and the intersection of Wakarusa Drive will continue to have intermittent lane closures due to widening. Most side roads are now accessible, but lane changes will still occur until the project is completed.

Interstate 35 at 87th Street, several ramps closed due to bridge construction. Commuters should use 95th Street if travelling north on Interstate 35 or 75th Street if travelling south.

The following ongoing construction projects may affect city traffic this week:

West Sixth Street from Folks Road to Wakarusa Drive, traffic reduced to one lane due to road-widening.

Monterey Way, north of Stetson Drive to Peterson Road, as well as Peterson Road west and east of Monterey Way, will be closed to through traffic for road improvements.

Third, from Alabama to Illinois streets, is closed to through traffic for reconstruction.

Expect slight delays along the 1800 blocks of Massachusetts and New Hampshire streets due to private construction.

Possible delays on Iowa Street due to construction between 33rd and 34th streets.
