Sandhill crane focus of audubon program

The Jayhawk Audubon Society will host a program on sandhill crane migration at 7:30 p.m. today at the Douglas County Senior Center, 745 Vt.

Featured speaker will be Keanna Leonard, education director at the Iain Nicolson Audubon Center at the Rowe Sanctuary near Gibbon, Neb. The sanctuary hosts hundreds of thousands of migrating cranes each year.

Sandhill cranes are known for having sophisticated vocal and body language vocabulary and identifiable patterns of interacting with one another.
