Grant Goodman’s tampered mail is drawing national attention.

Goodman, a retired Kansas University professor, was the subject of a Journal-World story in December after discovering that a letter from a friend in the Philippines had been opened by the Department of Homeland Security.

“I don’t know why they would censor this kind of mail,” he said at the time. “It’s amazing.”

In recent weeks, Goodman has also told his story to The Progressive, a liberal magazine, MSNBC.com, Reuters and other news organizations. The Drudge Report linked to the MSNBC story on Monday, spreading the story further.

“I purposely gave the letter to the newspaper in hopes that others would come forward with their experiences,” he told The Progressive.

Tuesday night, Goodman said he also had been contacted by Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show,” The Associated Press and CNBC, among other news outlets, and that he had been busy doing radio interviews with stations across the country.
