Injury accidents

¢ A Lansing teen was transported to a Leavenworth hospital Thursday evening after the car he was riding in struck an embankment along Kansas Highway 5.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Matthew J. Mowery, 18, was taken to St. John’s Medical Center with a possible injury after the northbound 2005 Ford Focus missed a curve and struck an embankment at 8:30 p.m. Mowery was wearing a seat belt. An update on his condition was unavailable Friday.

The driver, Nicklaus J. Savidge, 18, Lansing, was not injured, and neither was passenger Nick Mowery, 14, Lansing, according to the accident report.
