Governor nominates credit union leader

? John P. Smith is Gov. Kathleen Sebelius’ choice to return as Kansas’ credit union administrator.

Smith’s appointment, announced Tuesday, would bring him back to the same job he held from 1993 to 1999 – a post he left for his current job, serving as director of the Missouri Division of Credit Unions.

Smith’s appointment to a four-year term leading the Kansas Department of Credit Unions awaits Senate confirmation.

Jack Hohman, a longtime department employee, is serving as acting administrator. The previous administrator, Jerel Wright, left the job in September to work for the Kansas Credit Union Assn.
