Drug confusion

To the editor:

I’m writing in regard to the Saturday, Dec. 31, letter by Vera De Mott. I’m one of those confused seniors they speak of. Why do we have to have all those different plans? Why couldn’t Medicare just add a rider to our Medicare payment, like $5, and then co-pay for prescriptions? It’s as simple as that. If some of us are lucky to get free medications, that stops when you get this drug card, which costs $36 every month. Where are we saving any money?

The way I see it, the government is looking to make a profit at the expense of us seniors – poor or rich.
