Law Enforcement Report

¢ Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Topeka man Sunday outside of Lecompton after he left the scene of an alleged battery. Deputies apprehended the man in a field near the 600 block of Whitfield Street about 30 minutes after receiving reports of a fight nearby, the department said. He was arrested and booked into Douglas County Jail on four out-of-county warrants in addition to charges of battery and obstruction.

¢ Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and federal Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearm and Explosives responders detonated a pipe bomb found Sunday in a field southwest of Lawrence. A local land owner found the bomb, which had no other explosives or evidence nearby, sheriff’s officials said. Officials said Monday that the department had made no arrests and had no suspects in the case. No one was injured when responders detonated the bomb.
