Ottawa Police enforce seatbelt, child-seat laws

? Ottawa Police issued several citations during a recent week-long traffic enforcement effort aimed at enforcing child safety seat and seatbelt laws.

The enforcement was conducted from Feb. 13 to Feb. 19 in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies across the state.

Police issued 25 citations: 10 for adults not wearing seatbelts; one for no child restraint; 10 for speeding; two for not having liability insurance; one stop sign violation and one for not having possession of a driver’s license.

Adult drivers cannot be cited for failing to wear a seatbelt unless they are stopped for another violation.
