Emerging infections focus of conferences

KU Medical Center Continuing Education will present a series of conferences across the state to help communities prepare for and respond to a potential pandemic influenza outbreak.

The day-long conferences are titled “Responding to Emerging Infections: Community Preparedness for the Next Pandemic in Kansas.”

The conference sites and dates are: March 6, Holiday Inn Express, Pittsburg; March 9, Capitol Plaza Hotel, Topeka; March 17, Overland Park Convention Center; March 27, VFW Hall, Hays; March 31, Wichita Hyatt Regency; April 5, Plaza Hotel, Garden City; and April 10, Salina Bicentennial Center.

The conferences will include discussion about avian flu and the lessons learned from Hurricane Katrina.
