Kansas University's spring enrollment increased by about 100 students over last spring, according to figures released today.

All of the growth occurred at KU Medical Center, with enrollment flat on KU's Lawrence campus.

KU reports 27,994 students for this semester, up from 27,890 in spring of 2005. Statewide, Kansas Board of Regents institutions report a slight increase of 347 students, or 0.4 percent, over last spring.

KU officials said the higher numbers of students enrolled in nursing and allied health programs helped boost KU's overall numbers.

KU's spring enrollment has been gradually increasing since 1997.

Of course. Spring is the primetime for KU students to see and be seen with their pajamas, flip-flops, and phones in hand! Spring is the social-scene semester; academia comes second, if at all.
