Straight shooter?

To the editor:

This is about Vice President Dick Cheney’s accidental shooting of a hunting partner during a quail hunt in Texas.

As a long-time hunter, I can tell you that hunting accidents can, and do, happen.

The good news is that Harry Whittington, the victim, is doing well and is expected to make a full recovery.

One of the most disturbing thoughts swirling about in my mind is why the nearly 24-hour delay in reporting this incident to the proper authorities, media and American people?

Was it because the vice president was hunting without a quail stamp or were there other issues involved?

For what it’s worth, “big shots” sometimes believe that they are above the law, and Vice President Dick Cheney may not be the “straight shooter” that some Americans believe him to be.
