Several area high school students have been named National Merit Scholarship Finalists.

Nationally, about 15,000 students were selected as finalists in the competition that will award about 8,200 Merit Scholarships.

Area students who have been selected as finalists by the National Merit Scholarship Corp., in Evanston, Ill., include:

Baldwin High School – Lynne Lammers.

Free State High School – Kyle Chauvin, Greg Gaumer, Linda Green, Stephanie Herpich and Molly Krishtalka.

Lawrence High School – Thora Whitmore, Daniel Zehr, Chris Bohling, Jordan Crice and Brenna Daldorph.

Tonganoxie High – Micah Titterington.

Scholarship winners will be announced in the spring and summer.
