Motorists should avoid the 800 block of Kentucky Street for at least the rest of today while city crews attempt to repair a sinkhole that has developed on the street.

Chris Stewart, acting director of the city's utilities department, said a sinkhole developed this afternoon near a manhole on the street. He said crews were investigating the cause, and traffic could be disrupted through Wednesday morning.

Wasn't there something recently about robbing Peter to pay Paul with regard to street repair?

Fred Phelps was there with signs reading "Thank God for sinkholes".

We need a new law to stop sinkhole protests.

Centrist: Have you ever really looked at a dog turd, I mean really "seen" one. They're actually quite beautiful.

HEY! stop 'em, leave that sink hole alone where it is!
1. it is a naturally occurring traffic calming device!

  1. we do not know why the sink hole occurred...might have some super environmental cause, i.e. some asphault eating microbes we will have to protect!

  2. 800 block of Kentucky...maybe its connected to Kentucky's basketball palying lately?

  3. why fix this hole, what makes it, and the Kentucky drivers so darned special, huh?

  4. turn it into Dick Cheney's next Quail hunting blind.

  5. or, does it have some sinister connection to the city's aquatic center? somebody investigate!

  6. coincidence that this comes up during Valentine's day, I think NOT!

  7. why don't our city commish charge people for the price of a ticket to come and view it, to raise more street repair money?

  8. reroute traffic down 9th to iowa, that'll really help.

  9. since we don't know why this one, could there be thousands, I said thousands, more holes about to show up and this is just the leader, sent to warn us!
