Fire damages home in west Lawrence
The occupants escaped without injuries, but fire and smoke damaged a west Lawrence home Tuesday evening.
Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical workers plan to continue investigating the fire’s cause this morning.
Firefighters controlled in about 15 minutes the smoke and flames that came from the basement of the bilevel house at 3405 Oxford Court, Division Chief Jerry Karr said.
Firefighters responded to the call about 6 p.m. Karr said the fire caused about $80,000 in damage to the house.
Lawrence Police blocked a portion of Kasold Drive for about 45 minutes so that a 5-inch hose could be extended from a hydrant into the cul-de-sac.
