Smiles needed

To the editor:

I live in the Prairie Park neighborhood. Every day as I’m driving to work I encounter a crossing guard. This women does not know me from Adam, and I don’t know her, but every day she smiles and waves. Today she did not wave and I thought something was wrong.

When I got home from work I was watching the news and found out she had been censored. Somebody thought all this nicety was a distraction.

Surely this same person thinks we should get rid of the eagles that perch near the river. I’m sure most people who know they are there sneak a peek. Why? Because it makes them smile. Just like our crossing guard!

As I’m writing this I’m watching the late news and I see that she is getting a lot of support. Hopefully that means the wave will return, because we all need a smile in the morning don’t we?
