Water fitness classes to help with arthritis
Two water fitness classes designed for people suffering from arthritis have been opened by the Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department.
The Arthritis Foundation aquatic fitness class will be from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Jan. 2-18, in the Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive. It offers gentle ranges of motion and endurance in warm water while instructors watch. There is no pre-registration for the class.
The cost of the class is $2.50 for individuals 13-17 years old; $3.75 for those 18-59 and $2.50 for anyone 60 or older.
A class called Jivin’ Joints will be from 9:15 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, Jan. 3-19, also at the Indoor Aquatic Center. The program will help increase flexibility, strength and endurance. The cost to take the class is $16. You can enroll online at www.lprd.org or at any parks and recreation facility.
