Salvation Army short of ‘Red Kettle’ goal
With one week left in its annual “Red Kettle” campaign, the Salvation Army is on pace to come up short of its goal of raising $100,000.
As of Tuesday, the campaign had raised just less than $50,000, according to the local Salvation Army.
“We need the community’s help in order to reach our goal,” spokesman Donnie Hornberger said in a statement.
The kettles are at 19 places around Lawrence and are staffed both by volunteers and by paid workers. Money raised helps support the Salvation Army’s programs.
