Architect advises preservation trust

K. Vance Kelley, a principal for Treanor Architects, Lawrence, has been elected to the Board of Advisors for the National Trust for Historic Preservation, an organization dedicated to saving historic places and revitalizing America’s communities.

The advisers assist the organization through their personal skills, knowledge of historic preservation issues and familiarity with state and regional resources, leaders, government, media and community organizations. Kelley will serve as adviser for an initial three-year term.

Kelley has worked as an historic preservation architect for 22 years, and currently is managing the 10-year preservation and restoration of the Kansas Statehouse in Topeka. Kelley also has worked on the Douglas County Courthouse preservation in Lawrence, the Brown v. Board of Education national historic site rehabilitation of Monroe Elementary School in Topeka, and the Chase County Courthouse restoration in Cottonwood Falls.
