Phone charges
To the editor:
Beware pay phones!
Recently, I had to make a pay phone collect call from Chicago. The conversation lasted two minutes, but the bill was for $15.35! The breakdown of this sum in the statement was as follows:
Two minutes: $10.55
Pay phone usage fee: $.56
Universal connectivity charge: $1.19
Carrier cost recovery fee: $1.99
Local and state tax: $1.06
There is not justification for this outrageous charge for a two-minute phone call.
