KU students to share $23.5M in scholarships

More than 5,000 Kansas University students will share $23.5 million in privately funded scholarships, fellowships and awards during the 2006-07 academic year, KU announced Wednesday.

Thus far, 7,290 scholarships have been awarded. Many students receive more than one scholarship.

Most KU scholarships, awards and fellowships come from private contributions to KU Endowment, KU’s fundraising foundation. The estimated $23.5 million in support to be distributed during the academic year represents a 13 percent increase over last year. The figure fluctuates based on the number of scholarship applications and awards, the investment performance of endowed scholarship funds and other factors.
