Roger Hill Volunteer Center seeks applicants for the position of assistant director of the RSVP Program. This is a paid position at the volunteer center serving Douglas County.

The position focuses on the recruitment of retired and senior volunteers to serve Douglas County not-for-profit organizations. It requires the ability to structure personal activities in a productive and efficient manner, establish measurable goals and objectives, set priorities, write in a clear and interesting style, speak articulately before groups, listen effectively and respond accordingly.

Immediate volunteer needs

¢ Community Living Opportunities seeks a volunteer to serve as a human resources office assistant. Duties include helping with filing and other paperwork or organizational projects. This ongoing volunteer position requires 10 or more hours of service each week during normal business hours. This is an excellent position for people who enjoy traditional office-related duties.

¢ Douglas County Court Appointed Special Advocates is offering training classes for new volunteers. CASA volunteers are trained to advocate for children who have been abused or neglected and are under protection of the juvenile court.

Training will begin Thursday, Feb. 1, and end Tuesday, Feb. 13. Classes will meet Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Volunteers must be 21 or older and have an interest in children, good social skills, good writing skills and the ability to be objective. They also must submit to background checks and commit to a minimum of a year of service.

¢ The Lied Center at Kansas University seeks volunteers to usher at events. Usher duties include greeting patrons, handing out programs, tearing tickets and assisting patrons with seating. For more information, e-mail liedushers@ku.edu.

¢ The Roger Hill Volunteer Center has published its annual “How to Help at the Holidays” brochure. The brochure provides information on how volunteers may assist charitable organizations during the holiday season. ¢ KVC Behavioral Health Care will have a holiday party Friday for children whom the agency serves. Volunteers are needed to decorate for the party and photograph children with Santa Claus. Stocking stuffers or small gifts also are needed. Contact Lydia Diebolt at 331-4200, ext. 6620.
