Athletic funds

To the editor:

It would be interesting to know why money from the athletic department at KU is not used to fund much-needed repairs or support underfunded departments.

Young athletes receive free books, tuition, room and board, first choice at classes, do not have to stand in line to enroll, have their books delivered to them via the athletic department, are tutored when needed and are free to take classes in any department.

It would seem fair that some of the revenue be passed along to benefit higher education as a whole.
