School of Journalism to host ‘Difficult Dialogues’
The Kansas University William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications will have another panel discussion in the “Difficult Dialogues: Knowledge, Faith and Reason” series.
The panel will feature Sue Gamble, member of the Kansas Board of Education; Bishop Scott Jones of the United Methodist Church; KU Provost Richard Lariviere; Derek Schmidt, Kansas Senate majority leader; and Edward O. Wiley, professor of ecology and evolutionary biology.
The event will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the conference hall of the Hall Center.
The dialogue series has featured experts from around the country discussing the roles of reason and faith in people’s lives, including speakers offering different opinions of the role of religion in biology.
Also Thursday, Michael J. Behe, senior fellow of the Discovery Institute’s Center for Science and Culture and author of “Darwin’s Black Box: The Biochemical Challenge to Evolution,” will speak at 1 p.m. in the Crafton-Preyer Theatre in Murphy Hall.
