Children can eat breakfast with Santa this weekend at the Lawrence Community Building, 115 W. 11th St.

The event, sponsored by Lawrence Parks and Recreation, will serve plenty of pancakes, sausage and drinks Saturday to local kids who want an early peek at the man in red. The event starts at 9 a.m. and lasts until noon.

Children can also make crafts and paint faces while waiting for Santa to take their holiday requests.

Thursday is the deadline to register. Cost is $5 for children up to age 12 and $7 for adults. Cost at the door is $7 for children and $9 for adults.

The department is offering registration online at www.lprd.org or at any Parks and Recreation facility.
