Topeka ? Maggie Hull and Rosie Hull finished second at No. 4 doubles to lead the Free State High girls tennis team to a third-place tie Monday at the Shawnee Heights Doubles Invitational.

The Firebirds and Topeka West each finished with six points, trailing winner Salina Central (15) and runner-up Topeka High (8). Host Shawnee Heights (5) rounded out the field.

The Hulls finished 3-1 for Free State’s top record. Stephanie Steinback and Laura Watkins teamed up to go 2-2 at No. 3 doubles and secure third place, while a 1-3 mark was also good enough to secure third for the Firebirds’ No. 1 duo of Leigh Luina and Julia Guard.

Free State will return to action Thursday in a four-team meet at Junction City.
