East Heights reopens after water line break

Classes will resume today at East Heights Early Childhood Center after a work crew spent Monday repairing a pipe that burst Sunday.

The pipe, at least 30 years old, broke due to corrosion, said Tom Bracciano, division director of operations and facilities planning for the Lawrence school district.

The break occurred in the water line from Haskell Avenue to the school building at 1430 Haskell. Because of Sunday’s rainy weather, workers were unable to make repairs that day, school officials said.
