LHS teacher to be honored
A Lawrence High School teacher will be honored next Thursday during a ceremony at a local bank.
CornerBank will present its Community Cornerstone Award to Deb Engstrom, LHS special education teacher, at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 31 at the bank, 4621 W. Sixth St.
A reception will follow the presentation. The public is invited to attend.
Engstrom, who moved to Lawrence in 1989 after accepting a position at LHS, has taught special education for 17 years.
She has also served as a volunteer with Special Olympics, ARC, LINK and the Community Drop-In Center.
