Skateboarder injured in car accident
Although no citations have been issued at this time, Lawrence Police said the skateboarder was in the roadway illegally.
A 24-year-old man was flown to a Kansas City, Kan., hospital Tuesday night after he was struck by a car while riding a skateboard on 19th Street near Learnard Avenue.
Jason Fenwick, of Emporia, was struck by a westbound 2000 Hyundai Sonata driven by Sydney Ayala, Lawrence. Although no citations have been issued at this time, Lawrence Police said Fenwick was in the roadway illegally.
The accident occurred shortly before 11 p.m. Fenwick was flown by air ambulance helicopter to University of Kansas Hospital. No condition report was available.
