Lawrence commuter report

The following construction projects may affect commuter traffic in the region this week:

Interstate 70, from the East Topeka to Lecompton exits, widening project under way.

Route 1055 south of Lawrence will be closed between North 800 and North 1000 roads for the replacement of a bridge immediately north of the Cedar Hill Gun Club. A detour sign is posted.

Intermittent lane closures south of Lansing due to road reconstruction.

Access to eastbound Shawnee Mission Parkway from Interstate 435 is restricted due to bridge repairs.

Interstate 35 at 87th Street, several ramps closed due to bridge construction. Commuters should use 95th Street if traveling north on Interstate 35 or 75th Street if traveling south.

The following ongoing construction projects may affect city traffic this week:

Concrete repair on Briarwood Drive at Folks Road will close one lane along Briarwood Drive.

Work on the Monterey Way storm sewer and waterline is concentrated along Peterson Road, from Monterey Way to Kasold Drive as well as some lane reductions on Kasold Drive. Traffic detours are posted.

The bridge over the Kansas Turnpike on Kasold Drive, north of Peterson Road, will be closed due to reconstruction.

Parking will be removed from much of 800 block of Massachusetts Street, and traffic will be reduced to northbound only because of waterline repairs.

Curb repair along Haskell Avenue south of 19th Street and extending work between 15th and 23rd streets.

Kasold Drive between 22nd Terrace and Bob Billings Parkway will be reduced to one lane of traffic between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Flagmen will be on site to direct traffic.

2006 mill and overlay progress

This week, mill and overlay work may restrict traffic on the following streets:

¢ Haskell Avenue between 15th and 19th streets

¢ Green Way Circle from East Hills Drive to Noria Road

¢ Maple Lane from Brook to 19th streets

¢ Fifth Street between Indiana and Maine streets
