Award to recognize international efforts

George and Eleanor Woodyard, of Lawrence, have donated $25,000 to the Office of International Programs at Kansas University to endow the George and Eleanor Woodyard International Educator Award.

The award will recognize a faculty member for significant contributions to internationalization efforts at KU. Beginning in 2007, the endowed fund will provide a cash award of $1,000 to the winner.

George Woodyard, who in 1989 was named KU’s first dean of international studies, is professor emeritus in the department of Spanish and Portuguese.
