Pharmacy under investigation; Medicaid division searches building

? Kansas Atty. Gen. Phill Kline’s office is investigating operations at an Oskaloosa pharmacy.

Investigators with Kline’s Medicaid Fraud and Abuse Division served a search warrant Aug. 10 at Parker’s Pharmacy, said Sherriene Jones, a Kline spokeswoman.

Jones said no one has been arrested or charged in the investigation, and she was uncertain about a timeline of the next possible development.

According to Jefferson County records, Jay and Ruth Parker own the pharmacy.

Ruth Parker declined comment Friday afternoon when reached by telephone at the pharmacy.

The special Medicaid division investigates and prosecutes violations related to fraud in administration of Medicaid or activities of Medicaid providers.

The unit also investigates abuse or neglect complaints of residents in board and care facilities, and it conducts financial investigations.

Jones said she could not comment on the nature of the investigation into the Oskaloosa pharmacy.

Officers with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office helped execute the search warrant, Jones said, but she did not identify what investigators may have seized.
